Emma Mould has released her second single of 2020 – ‘Closer Than I Thought.
Drawing inspiration from the book of Song’s of Solomon, the singer/songwriter paints a musical picture of a woman’s search for love, heaven and God himself, and how her search causes her to discover that God is already with her – Closer than she thought.
The single hails the release of Emma’s third album which she plans to released this Autumn. The album is a compilation of songs written to challenge the listener’s ideas of love, be the forgotten voice of women, and share Emma’s story.
‘Closer Than I Thought’ is a captivating guitar driven folk production with soft rock and alternative pop inflfluences. Emma’s songwriting is poetic and solid with strong messaging, soothing melodies and a stirring harmonies. Produced by Manchester-based Dan Stirling, the single has a sense of urgency and passion which has cleverly been combined with Emma’s unescapable tenderness.
About her new single, Emma says: ‘Ultimately the song is about heaven. I tend to write poetically so that people who are searching for faith can relate to the lyrics. I worked with a number of great musicians on this song allowing me to pull on different influences and genres. Really hoping that ‘Closer Than I Thought’ connects with the listener on a deep level and helps them to discover the love that is all around them.” Often compared to the likes of Adele and Tracey Chapman, Emma Mould has been singing professionally since 2015 and has never looked back. She has since played at various venues across the city and has contributed on BBC Radio.
